Democrats Launch a New Assault on the Supreme Court

Senate Democrats have launched an attack on the Supreme Court, threatening and intimidating Leonard Leo, a constitutional scholar who has been in practice for many years.

ProPublica, a leftist publication that has been relentlessly attacking conservative Supreme Court Justices, reports on the fact that Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats sent letters to wealthy businessmen, including two of them, and to a prominent political activist, requesting additional information. The letters were sent by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, on Tuesday. They sought more information about a 2008 luxury fishing trip Justice Samuel Alito, which was reported by ProPublica last month. The letters were sent to three individuals: hedge fund billionaire Paul Singer, mortgage company owner Robin Arkley II, and Leonard Leo. Leonard Leo is a long-time leader of the Federalist Society, a powerful conservative legal organization.

The “undisclosed gift” is not required to be declared and usually involves benign travel with good friends. Leo is being targeted because he has been successful in getting constitutional judges on the Supreme Court.

Conservatives are pushing back against the Democratic Senators who have developed an enemy list to try and destroy the Supreme Court.
