James Biden, the brother of President Joe Biden, will be interviewed privately by House Republicans next month. The lawmakers are hoping to gain momentum in their impeachment investigation into Joe Biden.

The House Oversight and Accountability Committee revealed on Wednesday that the younger brother of the Democratic President will visit Capitol Hill on February 21. After months of negotiation, the date was finally set.

The committee announced on X (formerly Twitter) that it was looking forward to the interview.

James Biden’s Interview will take place only days before Hunter Biden, the son of the President and the Republican-led committee that has been investigating the Biden Family’s overseas financial affairs for the last year, will be deposed privately by the Republican run committee.

The committee subpoenaed James and Hunter Biden in November. The GOP investigation so far has not found any evidence that directly implicates the president.

James Biden’s lawyer said that the subpoena was not justified because the committee already had private bank records of transactions between the brothers. The committee discovered records of two loans made while Joe Biden wasn’t in office or running for president.

Paul Fishman, an attorney from New York City, said in a November statement that “there is nothing else to these transactions and nothing wrong with them.” “And Jim Biden never included his brother in any of his business dealings.”

Republicans claim that the evidence they’ve gathered paints an alarming picture of Biden family members “influence peddling”, particularly in their dealings with international clients.

The committee has been deposing former Biden family members in recent weeks. Nearly every witness has stated in an interview that there is no evidence to suggest that Joe Biden had any direct involvement in the business ventures of his sons or brothers.

The Republicans are still pushing for an investigation that could lead to impeachment proceedings against Biden. This is the ultimate punishment for what the Constitution calls “high crimes and misdemeanors.”

Private discussions had taken place about bringing articles against Biden before the House for a vote on February, but these conversations have stalled. House Republicans are now focusing on impeaching Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his handling of the border situation.
