Nearly 3 million illegal border crossers reported in fiscal 2024
The largest number of Americans in history, approximately 14 million people, were impacted by the Biden-Harris Administration.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, in fiscal year 2024, nearly three million foreigners illegally entered the U.S. or attempted entry.
Total reported was 2,901,142. 198,929 were reported at the northern and 2,135,005 at the southwest borders. Data includes Border Patrol encounters between ports and CBP encounters. Office of Field Operations nationwide apprehensions.
CBP’s fiscal data for 2024, which covers October 1, 2023 through September 1, 2024, are the second highest ever reported in U.S. History and under the Biden/Harris administration.

The highest number reported in U.S. History was over 3.2 million during fiscal 2023. This was followed by fiscal 2020, more than 2.76 millions in fiscal 2022, and 1.95 million in fiscal 2021.1 After subtracting the first quarter of fiscal 2021 (which occurred under the Trump administration), the total drops to 1,684,116. These totals are the highest reported by any administration.
Combined, CBP apprehension/encounter data under the Biden-Harris administration totals 10,552,984.
This number excludes over 2 million people who entered illegally and avoided capture. These are known as gotaways. CBP does NOT report data on gotaways. Center Square reported the first gotaway data to The Center Square in 2021, after receiving it directly from a Border Patrol Agent. CBP retired officials claim the figure is higher, because gotaway data are under-reported by around 20%.
This total excludes the 1,383,000 inadmissibles who were released to the U.S. under two parole programs that Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas created. CBP data shows that more than 852,000 illegal aliens were processed and released to the U.S. through the CBP One App, as well as more than 531,000 Cubans and other foreigners deemed inadmissible who were released through the CHNV Parole Program.
The Center Square reported that the CHNV program is directly related to violent crimes against Americans.
Mayorkas’ 10 other programs, which he created, also excluded the number of illegal aliens who were released. Federal judges have ruled that the parole programs were illegal. House Republicans used them as examples for illegal actions in impeaching Mayorkas last February.
The Center Square reported that despite claims by the Biden and Harris administration that millions of illegal foreigners released into the U.S. are legally present, the papers given to them by CBP or other DHS agencies stated they are unlawfully in the U.S. The DHS Office of Inspector General has found in numerous reports that DHS, its subagencies and the Department of Homeland Security do not vet illegal border crossers prior to releasing them. This includes those deemed high-risk who are flown across the country on commercial flights.
The combined number of border crossers illegally under the Biden and Harris administration is at least 14 million.
Mike Johnson, R. Louisiana, the Speaker of the U.S. House, said that it is at least 16. Some say the number is higher.
According to data, under the Biden-Harris Administration, the majority illegal border crossers reported each month and annually are single adults.
The Center Square’s initial report only cited preliminary Border Patrol apprehensions at the Southwest border, received exclusively from a Border Patrol agent. The total of 2.1 million CBP reported apprehensions in fiscal 2024 was significantly higher than The Center Square’s 1.5 million because it included CBP port-of-entry and OFO data. The Center Square reported only preliminary Border Patrol apprehensions made at the southwest border, which were received from Border Patrol agents.
Nearly 199,000 illegal border crossings were apprehended in fiscal 2024 at the northern border, the most in U.S. History. The data shows that the Biden-Harris Administration broke records at the northern border with nearly 190,000. Nearly 110,000 in fiscal 2020 and 20,658 within nine months of fiscal 2021.
The Biden-Harris Administration reported a record number of illegal border crossers at the northern border. This includes gotaways. It is the highest number in U.S. History.
The Center Square published its first report on national security concerns at the northern border in 2021. This included the fact that the majority of foreigners on the terrorist watchlist who were consistently arrested came from Canada. Canadian and U.S. officials both raised the alarm over the lack of operational controls at the U.S. Canada border, posing national-security threats. Members of Congress also called for increased security measures and introduced legislation to that effect.
Swanton Sector Border Patrol Agents apprehend an unprecedented number of border crossers every month and year in CBP’s busiest northern sector. The Center Square reported that in the fiscal year ending Sept. 30 they had apprehended more than 85 foreign nationals. The total number of apprehensions was higher than apprehensions for 13 years or 15 U.S. Army Battalions.
The Center Square reported that despite the Biden-Harris Administration’s claim that the number of border crossers was lower under the previous administration than now, the published data disproves this claim.
