Rep. Comer to Newsmax: Impeachment Inquiry Vote Possible Mid-Sept.

James Comer of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability suggested on Thursday that an impeachment investigation by the House into President Joe Biden may come as soon as the middle this month.

Rob Schmitt Tonight, a Newsmax program hosted by the GOP Kentucky lawmaker, reported that he believed there were enough Republican votes to pass it.

“I believe the House will vote by September. This is up to [House speaker] Kevin McCarthy [R. Calif.], but we have had several discussions. I know that [House Judiciary Chairman] Jim Jordan [R Ohio] has also spoken to him several times.

I would predict a vote in mid-September. I predict it will pass.”

Comer said that the inquiry could also be useful for obtaining information from federal agencies like the National Archives or the Internal Revenue Service who have been slow to provide requested bank records.

He said, “I think we have gotten more info than anyone ever could have imagined possible. But there is still a great deal of information to be gathered.”

The chair acknowledged that initially, a few Republicans were “nervous” at the prospect of an investigation.

The allegations that Joe Biden had communicated with Hunter Biden about foreign business deals using pseudonyms was “the straw that broke their back”.

Comer said, “They realized we needed this tool in order to be able win in court. That’s the direction we’re heading.” “We’ve already picked up the low-hanging fruits.”
