Rep. Mike Johnson Wins Republican Speaker Nomination

Rep. Mike Johnson, R-LA is the latest Republican nominee for Speaker. He won only hours after Rep. Mike Emmer, R-MN, had been nominated and then resigned in the face a growing opposition.

Johnson, vice-chair of the Republican Conference, entered the race Saturday for the first time, and ultimately finished second to Emmer during Tuesday’s first balloting round.

Johnson told his colleagues Monday that his theme was simply “trust and teamwork”. We have to get our act together.

The message was received well by the audience, as the conservatives who are dependable won support from all ideological groups.
