Schumer to Jam Senate with Immigration Deal Still Hidden from Public

It’s only after you pass the test that you can find out what it contains.

He announced on Thursday that Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, (D-NY), will bring the Senate to its feet next week when he presents the long-awaited plan for expanding the border and allowing more migrants into the country. The plan also includes tens billions of dollars in Ukraine assistance.

The public will not have time to fully examine the implications of this deal before the Senators vote.

Schumer stated that the text would be released by Sunday, with procedural steps establishing the bill’s path through the Senate starting Monday. This will allow a vote on the final passage of the bill by the end the week.

It is not surprising that the schedule has been rushed. Kyrsten S. Sinema, one of the three main negotiators in the negotiations, said that she wanted to push the deal through before the public could react.

This week, Sen. Mike Lee (R – UT) pushed a resolution to the Senate Republican Conference so that Senators would have at least two or three weeks to examine any deal.

Noteworthy, Mitch McConnell, the Minority Leader (R-KY), who is perhaps Washington’s biggest admirer of Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and a proponent of humanitarian, military and economic assistance to Ukraine, voted in opposition to Lee’s Resolution.
