FCC commissioner says TikTok should be banned by U.S. government

Federal Communications Commission leader said Tuesday that the U.S. government should ban TikTok, a Chinese-based social media app.

Brendan Carr, FCC Chairman, stated that he doesn’t believe there’s a way forward other than a ban.

Carr was one of five FCC commissioners who raised concerns about TikTok’s handling of data from U.S. users by its Chinese parent company, ByteDance.

He stated that it was impossible to “come together with sufficient protection of the data that you could be sufficiently confident that it’sn’t finding its way back into” the hands of the Chinese Communist Party.

Biden and the Democrats are outraising us hand over fist. And they’re doing it while telling us EXACTLY what their plan is for Biden’s 2nd term. Killing more babies. Seizing YOUR guns. Raising OUR taxes. So why aren’t you helping me stop them? I’m Ronda Kennedy. Help me win this November so we can help Trump reverse Biden’s damage to this country!

TikTok reacted against Carr’s comments. These are some of the most vehemently made attacks on the app.

A TikTok spokesperson stated that “Commissioner Carr does not have any role in confidential discussions with U.S. governments related to TikTok” We are confident that we can reach an agreement with the U.S. Government that will address all reasonable national security concerns.

TikTok is currently in negotiations with the Council on Foreign Investment in America (a national security committee) to determine whether ByteDance can be sold to make it possible for the video platform to be turned into an American company to allow it to continue operating in the United States.
