A judge in Illinois has removed Donald Trump, the former president of the United States, from the ballot.

Cook County Circuit Court Judge Tracie Porter, citing the 14th Amendment’s “insurrectionist prohibition” and using the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision as a precedent, ruled Trump ineligible to hold office and that he could not appear on state’s ballot.

The decision has been paused to allow Trump to appeal.

Porter’s decision came one month after the Illinois State Board of Elections unanimously rejected a similar challenge in a bipartisan vote.

Illinois has now become the third state in which Trump is no longer on the ballot. The other two are Colorado and Maine.

Supreme Court is currently considering whether Trump could be removed from state ballots. The court will likely reject the argument that Trump could be removed based on 14th Amendment grounds.

The news came out the same day that the Supreme Court decided to hear Trump’s claim for presidential immunity. Democrats, including former speaker Nancy Pelosi expressed their outrage.
