Court Orders N.Y. to Redraw House Map; GOP Irate

Republicans are furious after an appeals court in New York ordered on Thursday that the state’s congressional maps be redrawn. This could give Democrats up to six additional House seats.

The Appellate Section of the State Supreme Court ruled last year that the court-drawn maps from the previous year were only temporary and ordered the state’s Bipartisan Commission to make new ones.

According to FiveThirtyEight, the map showed six districts that were Democrat-leaning, 16 Republican-leaning, and four other districts that are typically open for grabs.
