Utah FOP: ‘False Narrative’ Spread on Senate Hopeful Staggs

The Utah Fraternal Order of Police rejects a “false story” that appears in advertisements against U.S. Senate Candidate Trent Staggs. These ads call for votes against Staggs at the Utah State Convention based on the claim that he had “handcuffed police, not criminals”, while he was mayor of Riverton City.

In a letter sent earlier this month, Utah FOP president Kevin Murray noted that “the Utah Fraternal Order of Police had a long-standing history of cooperating with Mr. Staggs in his capacity as mayor of Riverton City.” “Mr. Mr.

Murray stated that the Utah FOP had “unapologetically endorsed” the Staggs’ campaign.

He said: “We will continue to support Mr. Staggs, and we refute any claims that he is anything other than an advocate for his members.” “The Utah Fraternal Order of Police with its 5,100 member still supports Trent Staggs for U.S. Senate.”

Staggs was accused of being “too weak and too woke” as mayor, and that he had “forced diversity-training” on police officers during the Black Lives Matter demonstrations.
