DHS Chief Mayorkas’s Border Fix: Bus More Illegal Aliens into U.S. Towns

Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security at the Department of Homeland Security, is lobbying Congress for billions of dollars to bus in more illegal immigrants and border crossers.

Mayorkas, who was the DHS Secretary under President Joe Biden, held a Monday press conference near Eagle Pass, Texas. He defended himself and accused his critics of lying.

Some have accused DHS that it does not enforce our nation’s law. Mayorkas stated that this could not be farther from the truth.

Under Mayorkas, DHS has consistently overseen record levels of illegal immigration. In fiscal year 2023 more than 3.2 millions illegal aliens crossed the country’s border, with nearly 2.5 million arriving at the southern boundary.

Mayorkas, however, urged Congress not to approve Biden’s additional budget request, which the White House released in October 2023. This would result in billions of dollars more being spent by American taxpayers on apprehending and detaining illegal aliens before releasing them into U.S. community.

Mayorkas stated:

More Border Patrol agents are needed, as well as more case processors. This will allow the agents to be in the field performing the heroic tasks that make up their core mission. We need to increase the number of officers in order to avoid having to resort last-resort mitigation measures, such as closing bridges, when there are migration surges. We need more immigration judges and asylum officers to resolve asylum claims faster — giving relief when warranted and removing migrants when not. [Emphasis added]

More technology is needed to fight the smuggling and trafficking of fentanyl at our ports of entry. We also need more facilities for processing and detaining migrants during immigration enforcement procedures. We need to increase transportation funding to allow for an increased number of removal flights. We also need to allocate more resources to detention beds, Alternatives to Detention and to strengthen our Family Expedited Removing Management (FERM) process. [Emphasis added]

Mayorkas’ DHS has released border crossers and illegal immigrants into the U.S. Interior at a rate that is unprecedented in history. Breitbart reported that those who arrive at the southern border face a less than five percent chance of deportation from the U.S. in the same year.

Bill Melugin of Fox News reports that Mayorkas admitted privately to DHS officials the rate at the which border crossers or illegal aliens were released into the U.S. Interior exceeded 85 percent.
