Ken Buck, the outgoing representative and a former critic of impeaching Biden, has asked Vice President Kamala Harris, who was a previous critic, to take action against her boss.

Buck, 65, (R-Colo.), introduced a Monday resolution calling on Harris, 60, to convene an Cabinet meeting and invoke 25th Amendment. This requires that the veep declare Biden 81 “incapable to execute the duties of his Office.”

The Republican legislator cited Robert Hur’s 388-page damning report, published earlier this month. It raised questions about President Obama’s mental acuity.

Hur claimed that Biden had “willfully retained classified material” and “disclosed it,” but declined to file charges, citing concern that a jury might view him as “a well-meaning old man with a bad memory.”

Biden’s team vigorously refuted Hur’s characterizations about the president’s forgetfulness. They also slammed media outlets for highlighting parts of the report that suggested Biden had knowingly retained some classified material.

Biden’s attempt to refute the Hur report during a press conference prompted him to refer to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah, as “the president” of Mexico, fueling concern about his age.

Buck stated in a press release that “numerous instances” were outlined in the report and had been played out publicly, demonstrating President Biden’s apparent mental decline and lack.

“The challenges our country faces in terms of societal issues and security are numerous and demand a leader with strong mental and physical faculties.” It is time for the Vice President and Cabinet to put the country first, and take action on the 25th Amendment.

Buck, ironically, was adamantly against the House Republicans’ efforts to open an investigation into Biden’s impeachment last fall. He argued that his party “was relying on an imaginary history.”

A formal impeachment proceeding is not the same as an impeachment investigation. However, it can be seen as a first step.

Kevin McCarthy, then the Speaker of the House (R-Calif. ), initiated the investigation on Sept. 12, without a vote in the House due to lack of support from within the Republican Party. Buck, despite previous criticisms, joined his Republican colleagues in December to formalize the impeachment investigation.

Buck has also opposed Republican efforts in recent years to impeach Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas due to alleged negligence. On February 13, the House impeached Mayorkas by a vote of 214-213. Buck was among the three Republicans who opposed.

In 1967, the 25th Amendment was passed to address contingencies that might arise in the event of a presidential death, resignation, removal or incapacity. This followed the assassination in 1968 of John F. Kennedy.

Critics of Donald Trump’s former administration have suggested that he was ousted using the same method.

Buck is not the only Republican who has pondered the 25th Amendment as a means to take Biden down. Other Republicans, such as Rep. Claudia Tenney of NY and even Trump have floated the idea.

Biden is the oldest US president in history. A number of polls show that Americans are uneasy about his age.

According to a recent ABC News/Ipsos survey, 86% of voters think that the president, who is 77, is too old for another term. 62% feel the same about Trump.
