Matt Gaetz Grills DHS Chief Mayorkas: Illegal Aliens Getting ‘Disney Fast Pass into the Country’

Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-FL, interrogated Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. He accused him of giving illegal immigrants a “Disney Fast Pass” to enter the United States. This was a reference made to Disney World’s program which allows guests to bypass lines in its theme park.

Gaetz asked Mayorkas, during a House Judiciary Committee Hearing on Wednesday, about the “CBP One”, an app that encourages foreigners in northern Mexico, to make appointments at the U.S.Mexico border, for release into the U.S. Interior.

Breitbart News reported that the migrant app has allowed more than 100,000 foreigners to enter the interior of the United States in only five months.

Gaetz compared the app to a Disney fast pass to the country, where the released individuals “never have to face actual removal”, but are merely put into removal proceedings without any follow-up from DHS.

Gaetz asked Mayorkas whether the app asks foreign nationals to provide information about criminal records in their country of origin.

Gaetz asked Mayorkas, “Congressman I disagree with all you have said.”

The rest of the conversation went like this:

GAETZ: Well, I’m sure. Just answer the question. Does the app you’re promoting search criminal records in people’s home countries?

You are correct, Congressman. Customs and Border Protection screens and vets all individuals they encounter.

GAETZ : Either your app has the capability to check their criminal record in their country of residence or it does not. If it did, I would have known.

Gaetz mentioned that DHS had to close the mobile app for migrants in Nuevo Laredo in Mexico in June after it was discovered that Mexican drug cartels extorted foreigners seeking appointments at border crossings through the app.

Reuters, Border Report, Associated Press and Breitbart News all covered the story. Mayorkas claimed that the tactic of extortion never happened.

“You had to close [the app] because cartels stood outside Nuevo Laredo extorting the people. Gaetz asked, “Isn’t this right?”

Mayorkas replied, “Congressman that’s false.”

Mayorkas has overseen DHS since he took over. Since then, DHS has released two million border-crossers and illegal immigrants into American communities. Gaetz asked Mayorkas how many of the border crossers and illegal aliens released into American communities were subsequently deported. The secretary was unable to provide a number.

The law requires that individuals who have been released be placed in immigration enforcement proceedings where they can present their claim for relief. Mayorkas stated that if their claim for relief was not met, they could be removed from the United States.

Breitbart News recently reported that court-ordered DHS figures show that few people are deported after being released into the U.S. Interior.

Fewer than 20% of the few thousand people included in the sample size ordered by the federal court for those released to the interior of the U.S. by the Biden Administration have received a Notice To Appear (NTA), the first step towards deportation.
