NEW POLL: Whopping 70 Percent Think Biden Shouldn’t Run Again, Days Before He’s Set to Announce Reelection Bid

Joe Biden could announce his reelection bid in 48 hours. Nearly 3 out of every 4 Americans hope he changes his mind at the last minute.

NBC News released a poll on Sunday that showed 70 percent of Americans don’t want Biden to seek a second term. Only 26 percent do. The age of the president, who is 80 years old, is cited by 69 percent, and 48 percent as a major reason.

Biden’s situation is made worse by the fact that a new survey indicates he faces a steep uphill battle in a general elections. The NBC survey shows that 41 percent of Americans intend to vote for Biden by 2024 compared to the 47 percent who plan to back the Republican candidate.

The silver lining of the poor numbers for Biden is that he’s still more popular than most likely his opponent in 2024. Joe Biden is viewed positively by 38 percent of Americans, while 48 percent hold a negative opinion. While these numbers would normally spell disaster for an incumbent seeking to win a second term in office, they are much better than the views of Donald Trump, who only has a 34 percent positive rating compared with 53 percent negative.
