Over 20 Democrats, one Republican vote against resolution condemning antisemitism on college campuses

Over 20 Democrats and 1 Republican voted Thursday against a House resolution condemning antisemitism in college campuses.

H.Res. 798 was passed with a final tally 392 to 23, which included a bipartisan vote of 213 Republican and 183 Democrat.

22 of the 23 who voted against this resolution were Democrats. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) was the only Republican who voted against it, citing concerns about free speech.

“Free speech” means protecting the speech that you dislike, not only the speech that you like. Massie asked in a X post explaining his vote, “Who defines antisemitism?”

Nearly all members of the “Squad”, a group of far-left politicians, voted against this resolution. Rep. Greg Casar (R-Texas) was the only member of the “Squad”.

The 22 Democrats who opposed the resolution included Reps. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, D.N.Y.; Ilhan Omar D.Minn.; Ayanna pressley, D.Mass. ; Ritchie Torres D.N.Y., Nydia velazquez D.N.Y., Bonnie Watson Coleman D.N.J., Rashida tlaib D.Mich., Lauren Underwood D.Ill

After the Israel-Hamas conflict earlier this week, the Biden administration acknowledged that antisemitism has increased on college campuses.

Fox News reported on Monday that the Department of Homeland Security, the Justice Department and campus law enforcement were all working together to combat the “alarming increase” of antisemitic threats and incidents at universities and schools.
