Report: Biden Admin Knew Migrant Surge Would Happen
The Washington Free Beacon reported that the Biden administration knew in recent months of a large number migrants preparing to enter the U.S. on the southern border but did nothing.
The Free Beacon reported on Monday that internal documents at the Department of Homeland Security show that Mexican immigration officials have seen an increase in border apprehensions ever since May. This is a sign border crossings will likely escalate.
DHS did not take any action to prepare for the influx.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection released statistics late Friday that set a record for August. 232,972 migrants crossed the U.S. Mexico border.

The number of migrants reached a new monthly record for the calendar and was the highest ever recorded in August.
Free Beacon reports that the internal documents of federal agencies show a large buildup of migrants on the Mexican side at the start of this month.
Since January 2021, President Joe Biden has been unwilling to adequately police the border. This has not only angered Republicans but also upset Democrat leaders from places like New York and Chicago who have had migrants brought to their cities.
The budgets of these areas will be severely cut to cover the costs of housing and social services.
The towns along the border suffer the most. El Paso Mayor Oscar Leeser stated Saturday that his city was “at breaking point.”
Eagle Pass, Texas Democrat Mayor Rolando Salinas has described the situation as a crisis.
The situation is not improving. Reuters reported that last week, nearly 100,000 migrants who were hoping to enter the U.S. traveled through Mexico and Panama.
The Free Beacon reported that Union Pacific Railroad temporarily halted service in Mexico because of the large number of migrants who illegally boarded trains.
Since the end of Title 42 – a rule from the pandemic era that allowed the deportation of illegal immigrants for health reasons – the number of border crossings has continued to increase.
DHS stated that 1,450 migrants per month could apply for asylum remotely using the CBP One application, which was expanded and promoted in January as a way to solve the border crisis.
The CBP One app is supposed to reduce the number of people waiting in Mexico to apply for refugee protection at the end Title 42, according to a senior DHS representative who spoke to the Free Beacon.
The Biden administration is rushing to get people in as fast as possible.
Since Biden’s election, more than 3.8 millions migrants have crossed over the southern border.
