On Wednesday, hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters flooded the Cannon Rotunda in Washington, D.C., demanding a ceasefire with Hamas.

A large group of people chanted “Ceasefire Now!” inside the Cannon Office Building, and demanded that Congress demand an end to the fighting in Israel. The protesters wore black T-shirts that read, “Jews say Ceasefire Now!”

In a tweet, the group Jewish Voice for Peace stated that there were “over 350 demonstrators” inside of the large rotunda, including two dozen rabbis. Meanwhile, thousands protested on outside.

The U.S. Capitol Police said that demonstrations were not permitted inside the congressional buildings. They also worked to clear out the crowd. USCP posted an X message warning protesters not to demonstrate and, “when they didn’t comply we started arresting them.”

USCP informed Fox News that around 300 protesters were arrested during the Capitol Hill demonstrations, including three people who were charged for assaulting a police officer.

USCP confirmed to Fox News, that those who protested inside the Cannon Rotunda would be charged for illegally protesting within a House Office Building.

Authorities said at 6 pm that USCP was processing arrests and the rotunda was clear of any illegal protesters.

USCP said that more protesters were walking on the road around the House side Capitol Complex and they had begun rolling temporary road closures to ensure safety.

USCP posted on X that “a large group of demonstrators are walking around the House side Capitol Complex in the road.” We have temporarily closed the roads for safety reasons.

On Monday, more than 30 protesters arrested in front the White House. Over the weekend thousands of pro Palestinian activists marched through the streets of Washington to call for a ceasefire between Israel’s military and the Hamas militants backed by Iran.
